5 ways to get rid of procrastination and start to accomplishing our goals !

We all had plans one night that were really useful for either short or long term and planned to do them soon – maybe tomorrow.
We got up the next morning and something seemed wrong, maybe we got up on the wrong side of the bed? We do want to start our plan but then one voice comes and tells us “sit down and do what you’re used to and stop wasting your energy.”

This voice is procrastination. To make it a little fun, let’s imagine its one fat tiny man trying to keep us in our comfort zone and not trying something new.

Well this little man is keeping us in our comfort zone – in safety. But before we know it, BOOM! The day is over and we go back to bed. Guess what, we wasted the day on nothing. This wastage becomes particularly noticeable when we’ve plenty of spare time. So how do we brush off this tiny man to accomplish our goals? Well, I hope these will help.

1.    Give reason to yourself why you want to do it & believe in it.

Deciding to take action is indeed half the battle. It’s clear to all of us that procrastination is holding us up. I have seen it in myself and in so much people that your dreams never come true just by waiting but with taking action.

It’ll be very likely that these motives will gradually lose momentum with very little or no success. These will soon lead to despair and many start to quit. But remember,

"Winners never quit and quitters never win." ~ Vince Lombardi.

Therefore it’s critical to find at least one but strong motto to get our moods up in times of despair.

2.   Take action – Now!

This is perhaps the hardest part of all – to start moving. Almost all kinds of reason will start to hover over your head. Just ignore the consequences for a moment and say “I want it and I want to start now”. “It’s midnight?!” no problem will plan for tomorrow and go to sleep. “I’m broke!” easy thing will just need to start with what I have. Just do something you think will start a momentum and a path for yourself so as to advance closer and closer towards your goal.

3.   Don’t worry about what others will think.

If you have some unusual or daring goal, awesome! But what many get stuck at is the fear of what others will start to think towards them. If your goal is a clear threat to the safety of the society either physical or psychological, you definitely need to reconsider. But I have realized that many people’s want are humble (biased at times though) have no negative implications to those towards them. I would like to talk a little bit about this interesting group.

If you’re someone social, you might like to go out with some friends to somewhere fun. If there is something that makes you jump out of the bed, Do it! Let’s say you want to sky dive with some of your brave friends. Great, you can plan with your friends to buy some of the equipments. If some prices are very high (like renting a plane) you can start somewhere else like a steep hill.  But while planning, if you by chance run in to some mean people, ignore them and move on towards your goal, whatever it might be.

If you happen to be glad with yourself and enjoy your time alone. You may plan to hike alone to nearby parks or even go out to unprotected areas to enjoy the real wild life and nature itself. I’m just trying to put different examples for different hobbies right now. Your goals can be concerned about anything as long as you will feel accomplished when you are done.

4.   Do it your own way.

It’s easy to believe while seeing others work, their way of approach to their goals may seem professional and Cool just because they themselves did it. Indeed their way may be fantastic, but it didn’t happen overnight. All of them had to work hard and constantly try new things to get closer to their goal.

But most of all, they did it their own way that made them different therefore special. So next time you come across a really good idea on something similar to what you’re thinking of, be inspired by their work and try to contact them if you can. Though copying their work is not an option, burrowing ideas is not bad at all. Besides you may make new friends along the way!

5.   Removing barriers that block your road.

No matter what your determination be, No matter how much positive attitude you possess and No matter how close you are to reach your goal, someone or something will try to drag you down. Removing these anchors will let you sail to the unknown and accomplish what you can’t even dream of. And always remember to be polite and have a strong voice over anyone who maybe trying to drag you down.

It might be a cruel peer group trying to crush your dreams and plans or a fiancĂ©e/ fiancĂ© caging your freedom. Whatever the situation is, just remember that you’re the only one who paves your future. To stay in what others want you to be or break the boundaries and accomplish what you believe are good. After all, we humans have only one life to live. So let’s make most of it!
