How is the modern age changing us? ( Part 3 )
3. Day to day activities.
In general, we human beings are living
considerably different way of life. The activities of a person these days are
unlikely to include, gathering and hunting for food. Instead, they are likely
to incude watching TV, shopping, driving a car, eating in a restaurant and
other common practices done by the today’s world.
As I have mentioned in the earlier
posts, our way of life is the main reason for the countless problems we’re
encountering today. I’ve also mentioned that living a sedentary life has its
own consequences. A sedentary lifestyle has a typical behaviour – low
immobility. Working is today defined both physically and mentally. In fact a
job that involves more mental work than a physical work is prized by majority
of people (it also is due to the fact they pay a better salary). So, we naturally
accept that white collar jobs (those that involve more mental work) are better
than blue collar jobs (those that involve more manual labour).
Although both of these jobs are
equally important, they have their own pros and cons while considering the
level of their activity in their day to day life.
Blue collar jobs offer a very much
active life compared to that of the white collars. But unfortunately, there are
risks to one’s well being while engaging in the manual labour. Many jobs have a
potential heath hazard such as working in a coal mine or are exposed to
pollutants in a big city for a long time which can result in a wide range of chronic
diseases and other self induced diseases.
The
white collars meanwhile may not have the problems blue collars face but have
their own troubles to deal with. These include a body that is dangerously inactive
to having plenty of stress. Stress may seem like an easy word but think again,
almost all patients of psychological breakdown is resulted from excess stress
and other related causes.
So think twice before judging which
kind of job is better than the other. Call me crazy but I think all jobs are
equal, but the salaries are not. I’m not at a position to bring any kind of
economic equality, but I’d like to remind people that every achievements is not
only due to the leader or manager but is of the whole work force involved.
Coming back to our topic, it’s hard to
find a way of life where our day to day activities aren’t hurting us or others
in some way. It is up to us to know what part of our jobs may have a danger to
our well being and try to find a solution to our specific situation.
To round things up, I would like to
tell all my readers to take a closer look to our day to day life activities and
see if they have any damaging impacts to us or to anyone else. Have any question,
comment or suggestion? Will be glad to
see them and answer them as soon as I can.
THANKS
