3 simple ways to a start frugal lifestyle

“Why are you so cheap?” This is the type of remark, many people who are careful with their money have to get used to. Most people tend to see the frugal lifestyle as stingy. There is a big difference between being frugal and being stingy. Frugality revolves around the idea where it requires one to use all resources to the last drop before purchasing. This turns to stinginess when a person starts to cut down the basic necessities for the sake of saving money.
Frugal people themselves aren’t all the same. Some are ok with a very tight budget for the necessities while others aren’t that serious and are only careful of extravagant purchases which might bring debt that is too big.
If you want to be frugal, it’s your choice on setting the level your goals on saving since it depends on your financial situation you are in & what you believe is best. Nonetheless, you’ve to go along certain rules to join the “league of Frugal” (note, created it myself here, no such thing!)

1.     List out the things you’d normally spend money on,

This can include occasional stuff you may purchase, but any way let’s sort them out on a level of necessities. It’s amazing to see that many of us spend a bit too much on unnecessary things. Let’s take a food for example, mostly people eat some meal before leaving home, but still stop on the road to buy snacks, drinks, ice-cream … you name it. I’m not saying you shouldn’t consume food outside your home. That’s fine, but for many they eat all the time because they have made it habit. And if we don’t burn all calories we take, well, our body stores it for tough times. When this storing for the “tough” time to come never really occurs, we’re left with our body storing too much food & hence we become obese.
So if you actually look at it closely, it’s a double edge sorrow, because we’ve spent for food we weren’t to use & now we’re going to get rid of it because we don’t feel good, or people are making fun of us. So coming to our point we need to be careful when spending our money because or some cases it might be like throwing out our money through a window and in others it might come back to us bringing us some unpleasant surprise.
Therefore I believe it’s crucial, that we know on what we spend our money. Then we eliminate those that don’t bring any value to us.

2.   Start substituting hobbies of wasting money to ones which empower you truly,

We have seen that something we spend money on are practically useless & even potentially dangerous. But when it comes to hobbies, things get a little messy due to the fact that they’re stuck with us. No worries though; humans are able to build or destroy habits at their will with a bit of determination (unless you’re dealing with things like drugs which in that case you will need professional help.)
We all had bad habits at one time or another & even now, all of us have some habits we’d like to change . It’s the same when it comes to habits involving extravagant use of money. These are definitely habits that are to be marked out as soon as possible. Others however can lure you in without showing and negative impacts. Perhaps it might be watch series every evening. You do pay money but you enjoy it, and guess what, that’s fine. But is it really the thing you want to do with your evening? Most of us are easy to forget that we had planned to do this or that, but it seemed like a lot of hard work & just then that idea comes to us that all this boring stuff can be done “later”, in short we fall prey to procrastination. This happens so many times to so many people, I seriously doubt that there are people who never had had this experience in their lives. Anyway, it does differ from one person to another & it’s up to us to truly find out what our bad habits or vices are so that we tackle those habits. Oh! Just forgot to mention make sure you substitute an “equivalent” habit. Uh… what’s that? Check out this video  to change a bad habit by an equivalent good one.

3.   Stop imitating what others are doing.

PLEASE! For God sake, forget all others, if you’re doing this chances are Number 1. You don’t enjoy doing it Number 2. You lose tons of money just because your peers are doing it and it feels that you are obliged to do it too Number 3. That will eventually make you depressed and even become unhappy. Forget the damn money! If you follow others for the sake of their friendship or to be “cool”, you’re definitely going to waste your time & if you are in  it, it’ll require a lot of courage of cutting these “friends” who don’t notice when you’re absent. Check out this post if you want to know how to deal with these kind of relationships. Therefore, if we take control of our action & not let others force us or even sometimes we ourselves allow them to waste our time; we’ll be at control of our lives.
I hope these tricks will help you out to be the one at the decision on spending your money. By adopting the right habits and refrain ourselves from indulging and wasting money on temporary joy we’ll be able to save far more money & become truly FRUGAL.
